"Timothy "Tim" A. Springer, Ph.D. is an immunologist and Latham Family Professor at Harvard Medical School. Springer is best known for his pioneering work in discovering the first integrins and intercellular adhesion molecules and elucidating how these cell adhesion molecules function in the immune system." His interest in the perforations and intricacies of Chinese Scholars Rocks is understandable.
Picturing his stones exquisitely sited about his home was a delight.
"Tim is receiving the 2019 Canada Gairdner International Award, which recognizes pivotal contributions in the field of biomedicine. To date, the Gairdner Foundation has recognized the stellar work of more than 380 scientists from 35 countries. Eighty-nine recipients have gone on to receive Nobel Prizes." We were thrilled to attend the event with so many of Tim's family and colleagues who so admire his science. George Q. Daley, dean of Harvard Medical School said: “Tim Springer’s creativity and passion are inspirational.” Tim also invited me to install three of my large new sculptures at the event.
