Demise (detail) 2014 tar, water,
Boston, MA: Demise will fill the spacious Boston Sculptors Gallery with a tale of foreboding. In his first Boston installation, Andy Moerlein presents a varied collection of materials in a riot of textures and implied content. Moerlein uses tar, feathers, water, wood and a fabricated stonewall to share his feelings about this moment in human history.

I have been busy in Cusco Peru for the past three weeks creating work in a residency at the Escuela Superior Autónoma de Bellas Artes del Cusco. The wood sculpture created during the holiday weeks will be on display at the renown Qornikancha Museum in a show curated by Nora Nora Valdez. Notable Peruvian artists and members of Boston Sculptors are sharing studios and exhibiting side by side in this exciting cultural mashup!
